BRANCH MANAGER/ASSISTANT TREASURER, Millbury Federal Credit Union
Company location: Millbury
Residence: Spencer
Favorite color: Due to my Irish heritage, any shade of green!
Age: 36
Career highlights: Eight years ago I entered the banking industry at Sovereign Bank. Within nine months I became a senior personal banking representative. Over the next 18 months, I surpassed my goals and objectives to position myself for my next opportunity, which was as a business banking representative. Over the next three years I gained the necessary confidence and experience to become a manager. I was hired as the Auburn branch manager by Millbury Federal Credit Union. In six months, I was promoted to the main office manager for MCU, where I have now managed for two years.
Community involvement: In Auburn, I was a member of the board of directors for the chamber of commerce, on the Auburn Chamber Golf Committee and volunteered for the Annual Auburn Spring Clean Up day. I supported the Auburn Youth & Family Services as a treasurer for its annual fundraising gala and chaired its second annual Wine and Beer Tasting Event. Once in Millbury, I joined the Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce and was recently named as chair of the chamber golf committee.
Biggest success: My quick career advancement is my biggest success thus far in my career.
Biggest challenge: My biggest challenge professionally has been overcoming my lack of my bachelor’s degree, which I am working toward at Assumption College.
Mentor: Dick Thomas, senior vice president of retail banking at MCU, has been a mentor. His advice to me on my very first day was to make sure you make a name for yourself with honesty, integrity and hard work.
Hidden talent: Growing up, my father baked and decorated all of my birthday cakes which ranged from Mickey Mouse to Star Wars characters. Now that I am a proud father of two, I am now baking and decorating character cakes for my two children.
