Founder, Ivy Child International
Company location: Worcester
Residence: Worcester
Age: 31
Career highlights: I am fortunate to be a mother of two amazing children that are an inspiration to me in my calling as a professor and child specialist. From a young age, I knew it was my passion to work with children. That evolved into my commitment to community work and international humanitarian service. Beginning as a teenager with my work with Mother Theresa and the Sisters of Charity serving slum dwellers in India, to teaching art and music to street children in rural villages, to now working in Haiti with victims of natural devastation, I wholeheartedly believe in the impact and difference a human being can make in the life of another.
Community involvement: In addition to teaching at one of the largest community colleges in the Northeast, I am an elected member of the Board of the Young Democrats of Massachusetts and on the board of the Center for Women and Enterprise.
Biggest success: My biggest success professionally is achieving my goal of promoting the well being of children through my mission of “bridging the ivory tower to Main Street” as a cross-cultural positive child specialist. I have created my own cross-cultural positive psychological method and I am pioneering it through Ivy Child International.
Biggest challenge: My biggest challenge is being able to juggle my multiple roles as parent, educator, and child specialist while expanding Ivy Child International from its base in Massachusetts to providing virtual access to services worldwide.
Hidden talents: I am a musician and play an Indian string instrument called the Veena. I have also studied and recorded Carnatic Vocal and Indian Classical Bharathanatyam dancing.
