Pietro Curini
Age: 25
Title: Manager of Information Systems
Company: The Training Associates
Company location: Westborough
Residence: Millbury
Career highlights:
I started writing computer programs and playing video games at a very young age and I always thought I could do well in this field.
At age 18, I moved from a filing desk job to re-designing and coding a new web site for the company. I honed and developed my skills to ultimately run the company’s IT department, where I still am today.
Now I am responsible for the technical operations of The Training Associates Corp., a $30 million company, and I am also the lead designer/programmer for custom-built software solutions.
Community involvement:
I enjoy being able to help people participate in things that they may not have had the opportunity to do otherwise. One of my current active efforts is with the Saltwater Anglers Association. We take kids from groups like the boys/girls club out fishing for the morning. Some have never been fishing or even on boats. It’s a rewarding feeling to see their eyes light up with excitement and be able to experience nature. Our organization is also heavily involved in efforts such as shore cleanup and lobbying to keep our amazing shorelines open to public access!
Biggest professional success:
I think my biggest success is achieving an integral and key role in a mid-size company while helping it grow more than 400 percent.
Dream job:
Fishing charter boat captain.
Businessperson you admire most:
I am a true believer in developing your ideas, attaining goals and then taking them to the next level. I think the inventor and CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, embodies that philosophy quite well, especially for my generation. His success and ground-breaking ideas in online communication and information sharing prove that it doesn’t matter your age or experience level. It’s about your desire to make something happen and doing what is necessary to make it happen.
If you weren’t doing the job you’re doing now, what would you do?
If I didn’t have this job, I would still be doing something else in the IT field that has to do with programming or network management. I’d stick with what I am the best at.
Becoming a police officer or some other law enforcement role has also crossed my mind…
Favorite movie:
“Jurassic Park.” I’ve watched it far too many times.
