Laura C. Cummings
Age: 27
Title: VP, Administration & Electronic Operations
Company: AllCom Credit Union
Company location: Worcester
Residence: Auburn
Career highlights:
I’m currently vice president, administration & electronic operations at AllCom Credit Union and am responsible for IT, systems, compliance and facilities functions. I practically grew up at AllCom, beginning in 1997 with Doherty High’s School-to-Work program. I worked as a receptionist, teller, member service representative, operations manager, and then ultimately advanced to my current position. By doing so, I have been exposed to almost every business aspect of the organization, and my experience has been incredible. I realized very early on that this industry is one that I’m passionate about and I’m certain that it’s where I belong.
Community involvement:
I really enjoy speaking with local community groups about protection against identity theft and financial scams and hope that these discussions prevent participants from becoming victims. Also, I have donated time and resources through AllCom’s charitable partnership with New Hope, a local agency that assists women and families of domestic violence and sexual assault. New Hope is an inspiring organization and I always support them in any way I can. I’m also involved in organizations within my industry including serving as a director of the Massachusetts Credit Union League’s Central Massachusetts Chapter.
Biggest professional success:
My biggest professional success can’t be defined by an individual moment. It actually comes from playing an integral part of the successful transformation AllCom has made over the past three years. We’ve gone from a private, employer-based credit union to a full-service community-based institution.
Dream job:
My ultimate dream job is to be the CEO of a small- or medium-sized credit union.
Businessperson you admire most:
The businessperson I most admire is my supervisor and mentor, Debbie Guiney, president & CEO of AllCom Credit Union. She demands excellence and has helped me develop my own professional identity.
If you weren’t doing the job you’re doing now, what would you do?
I have always enjoyed working with numbers. If I weren’t in my current position, I would want to be a financial crimes investigator for a government agency. This line of work has always intrigued me and I am always fascinated whenever I attend sessions on fraud and financial crimes.
