For nearly 10 years now, Sbrega has led a community-based credit union with $498 million in assets and 28,162 members, playing an outsized role in the North Worcester County community through its focus on small business and a high-touch, high-tech philosophy. In her role as chairwoman of Mount Wachusetts Community College, she helped pick the new MWCC president after Daniel Asquino retired following a 30-year career.
She is a member of the board for Greater Gardner Chamber of Commerce, the House of Peace & Education, and Heywood Healthcare, previously serving as its chairwoman. Four years ago, she helped form the networking group Women’s Circle of Giving, which has donated more than $100,000 to local nonprofits.
What advice would you give up-and-comers? If you dream it and believe it, then you can do it. But don’t expect that it will all be handed to you, and be ready to make some sacrifices along the way.
Outdoorswoman: I enjoy golf, boating, and snowmobiling! Being a busy executive, most people are surprised to learn that I enjoy cooking and am pretty good at it.
