The Massachusetts Hospital Association sees President Barack Obama’s plans for health care moving along the path that the Bay State has traveled.
In a newsletter for members, the MHA pointed to a letter from the president to the senators whose committees are drafting plans for national health care reform as evidence that he supports several aspects of the Massachusetts model. In the letter, the president called for a way for Americans to compare and choose a plan for their family, something the MHA likens to the Massachusetts Health Connector.
The association also noted that the president said he is open to an individual mandate for coverage along with a requirement that employers share in the cost, both elements of the Massachusetts plan.
