With the primaries over, the race is on to determine who will succeed Gov. Deval Patrick. In our Flash Poll for the week of Sept. 15, voters remained consistent, supporting the Republican candidate by a wide margin in spite of the Democratic dominance in the Bay State. In last year’s special U.S. Senate race, Flash Poll voters preferred Republican Gabriel Gomez over Democrat Edward Markey, 68 to 25 percent. But in the election, Markey prevailed comfortably, 55 to 45 percent.
