State officials will brief local residents and businesses next month on plans to replace and widen the heavily used Route 9 bridge that connects Worcester and Shrewsbury.
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation will conduct a public hearing Sept. 21 at Worcester Technical High School starting at 7 p.m. The state wants to expand the four-lane Kenneth F. Burns Memorial Bridge over Lake Quinsigamond to six lanes. It also wants to create left- and right-turning lanes in each direction, as well as sidewalks and bicycle travel lanes.
