RCAP Solutions and the resources we provide have become more vitally relevant than ever during this pandemic as a conduit of information, referrals, and resources for emergency services.
Our Housing Consumer Education Center (HCEC) team has seen a massive increase of traffic through online applications and inquiries and has received an additional $328,000 in funds to provide Residential Assistance for Families in Transition (RAFT) funding, a program funded by MA Department of Housing and Community Development that can provide eligible families with financial assistance to help prevent homelessness. Our First Time Homebuyer workshops and counseling are continuing in a virtual setting, and our Home Modification Loan Program continues to see a steady stream of applications, with our client meetings and closings taking place via Zoom.
Our Rural Community Assistance Partnership (RCAP) team, in partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA), helped to distribute nearly 30,000 cloth masks to essential Public Water System and Wastewater operators in need. A second round of cloth mask distribution is being offered to the water and wastewater sectors to continue supporting safe operations now and in the future. In partnership with the Health Foundation of Central Mass and Wachusett Medical Reserve Corps, we have distributed over 15,000 door hangers with COVID-19 information as a public health service through schools, elderly and public housing, and family support services.
Immediate Goals: RCAP Resilient! Stabilizing the organization in this “new normal” in the aftermath of the pandemic.
Future Goals: Recover and rebuild our operational component in a post-COVID-19 world.
