World Energy Runs Fed Auctions
World Energy Solutions Inc. of Worcester said it recently held auctions that generated contracts worth at least $1.5 million for the U.S. General Services Administration and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
The auctions involved energy conservation through demand response for GSA and VA facilities. World Energy said the auction process replaced a traditional process of gathering quotes from various providers, then negotiating contract terms, which resulted in a wide range of results among different agencies. In contrast, the auctions required interested providers to deliver technical proposals with specific requirements.
The GSA Energy Division received 79 bids from 10 suppliers, and the resulting contracts gave the government agencies 91.8 percent of revenues, compared with 75.5 percent in previous energy curtailment contracts.
