Workers Credit Union has named Ellie Fordyce as the Littleton cooperative’s new chief people officer.
Bringing with her more than 16 years of credit union human resources experience, Fordyce will concentrate her work on strategic development of Workers Credit Union’s employee programs and engagement, according to a Friday press release from the credit union.
“Ellie is an excellent leader who will be an asset to Workers Credit Union. She will bring her strong leadership skills to build teams and execute workforce strategies that align with the credit union’s mission. Her vision and passion are unmatched,” Jay Champion, president and CEO of Workers Credit Union, said in the press release.
Prior to joining Workers Credit Union, Fordyce served as CPO of Westerra Credit Union in Denver, Colorado, the same institution Champion worked at for 27 years before becoming Workers Credit Union’s interim president and CEO in July 2023. His interim status was officially removed in June.
Fordyce succeeds previous CPO Jane Fitzsimmons who left the position back in 2021. Fitzsimmons currently serves as vice president human resources at RTN Federal Credit Union, according to her LinkedIn profile. RTN merged with Lawrence-based Merrimack Valley Credit Union in 2023.
Fordyce graduated from University of Colorado Boulder with her bachelor’s degree in anthropology and earned her master’s degree in organizational development and change from The Pennsylvania State University.
With $2.6 billion in assets, Workers Credit Union is the second largest credit union in Central Massachusetts when ranked by assets as of March 31, according to WBJ’s Research Department/ With 320 full-time employees across 18 locations and 123,615 members, Workers Credit recorded a net loss of $20.7 million in 2023.
