The property containing a Market 32 supermarket on Pullman Street in Worcester was sold to a California company for $26 million, according to the Worcester South District Registry of Deeds.

A New York real estate firm known as Goddard Development Partners has owned the 64,000-square-foot supermarket at 72 Pullman St. since the early 2000s.

In a deal closed Feb. 4, the property was sold to Patriot ExchangeRight Worcester LLC, which is registered to the California address of ExchangeRight. The company specializes in 1031 exchanges, which is a tax-deferred property transfer, usually for business chains.

Exchange Right bought a Walgreens pharmacy property on Lincoln Street in Worcester for $8.8 million in December.

The Market 32 property is assessed by the city at $8.2 million.

Market 32 just leases, so I don't think it's going anywhere right now. This is just a notification of the sale of the property to a new owner.

What is next for the people that depend on Market 32 for shopping and pharmacy needs? What about the staff members that are so willing to help customers?
