Worcester Second Happiest Place To Work

CareerBliss, an online career website, found in a recent survey that Worcester is the second happiest city to work in, trailing only Miami, Fla.

The survey of more than 40,000 workers asked questions about employees' relationships with their bosses and co-workers, work environment, job resources, compensation, growth opportunities, company culture, company reputation, daily tasks, and job control over the work they do.

New Haven, Conn. took the number one spot on the list of most unhappy cities in which to work.

It appears from the survey that pay does not necessarily equate to worker happiness. The average salary in Worcester is $53,674, while in New Haven the average is $62,604.

CareerBliss CEO Heidi Golledge said employers that create rewarding work environments and encourage employee growth have "immense influence" on a city's career landscape. Those employers also have lower turnover, she said.
