Expo Management Group, which puts on the Worcester RV & Camping Show, Worcester Home Show and the Worcester Boat Show, will postpone all future expositions until 2022, the company announced on Thursday.
The postponements are due to the coronavirus pandemic, and uncertainty around when a vaccine will be developed, allowing for the state’s economy to fully reopen, the Worcester group said.
“We had to lay off our entire staff since March and have not been able to put together a plan that makes sense,” said Jeffrey Davis, managing partner of Expo Management Group, in a statement. “It takes nearly a year to put together our shows, but with social distancing and additional safety protocols, we simply cannot in good conscience ask our valued exhibitors to pay for space without knowing whether or not the show will actually happen.”
The company has produced shows for almost 75 years. Davis said the company could not in good conscience ask exhibitors to pay for space without knowing whether the show will happen, particularly with social distancing and other coronavirus-related safety protocols.
