TechPrecision Corp., a large-scale metal fabricator based in Westminster, has formed a wholly foreign owned enterprise in China.
The Chinese firm will be known as Wuxi Critical Mechanical Components Co. Ltd. and will be aimed at meeting local demand for large customers in the solar energy industry.
A current TechPrecision customer worked with the company to form the foreign owned enterprise and signed a $2.9-million purchase order for components to be manufactured in China.
TechPrecision said it expects a significant increase in business as a result of establishing Wuxi, which is expected to be manufacturing product by the end of the year.
In addition to the alternative energy sector, TechPrecision has customers in the medical, nuclear, defense, aerospace and other industries.
