The Channel Co., a media, event and marketing company based in Westborough focused on the IT industry, has named Wayne Silverman as its new chief revenue officer.
Silverman will lead revenue growth efforts, sales strategies, and customer engagement as the IT world adapts to the rapid adoption of AI-based technology, according to a press release issued by The Channel Co. on Tuesday.
"It's a privilege to step into the role of CRO at The Channel Company during such a pivotal period for the company," Silverman said in the press release. "As we look ahead, the tech sector is poised for a transformation with artificial intelligence taking center stage. I am eager to collaborate with the talented team here at The Channel Company to deliver innovative, outcome-driven services to our clients as this market evolves."
Silverman joins The Channel Co. from Spiceworks Ziff Davis, a Texas-based technology business-to-business marketing firm, where he served as the company’s chief revenue officer. He has prior experience as the chief revenue officer for Business.com, a Waltham-based digital media company.
Silverman studied at Clark University in Worcester for two years before transferring to UMass Amherst, where he received a bachelor’s degree in economics, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Silverman replaces Heather Barnes, who was named the company’s chief revenue officer in March 2023. He will be working under CEO Matt Yorke, who joined the company in January.
"We are thrilled to welcome Wayne to the team," Yorke said in the press release. "His global expertise within the technology and digital media industries alongside his unwavering dedication to customer experience will continue to elevate how we deliver for our clients and drive expanded opportunities for our organization."
Founded in 1982, The Channel Co. is responsible for publishing CRN, a trade publication originally launched as Computer Retail Weekly and focusing on IT news. The company runs a number of IT-focused networking and award events, and provides marketing agency services to tech-related companies.
