WBJ Talk Back in the August 17, 2009 Issue

“Solar panels in a Worcester school? Wouldn’t the money be better spent on education in the classroom — i.e. technology, books? (I’d suggest adding another teacher or three, but I realize this is a one shot.) I mean how many sunny days a year does Worcester get?”

Leslie Gevirtz on a report at WBJournal.com that Worcester’s North High School will get solar panels funded by the Massachusetts Renewable Energy Trust.

“I totally disagree with the majority of the Supreme Court and most of the rationale of that decision. The Supreme Court’s majority and much of the dissenters wanted to find a way to benefit the New Haven 20 and thus settled on the creation of new law to accomplish that benefit.”

Michael A. Brown on a story in the Worcester Business Journal looking at the implications of the Supreme Court’s decision in the case of Ricci v. DeStefano, also known as the New Haven firefighter case.

“Identify it as a ‘critical issue.’ Discuss it separately, in person and privately. Do not try to combine it with praise. Offer help for improvement. Check back frequently to see if the issue remains.”

Harrison Greene commenting on the WBJ’s LinkedIn discussion on how to deliver criticism in the workplace.
