WBJ Talk Back from the May 9, 2011 issue

Getting Educated
Our WBJ Daily Report item about a presentation by Robert Schwartz of Harvard University on the importance of technical schools in preparing the workforce of the future elicited this reader response:

"So happy to hear that Mr. Schwartz supports technology programs that help to prepare students for life after high school. Students really deserve, need, and want more opportunities in the technical field and employers greatly deserve, need, and want workers that are better equipped for employment."

From The Ground Up
Our April 25 issue included a “green” focus and in it, we profiled the positives of geothermal heat. That coverage was welcomed by at least one online reader, who had this to say:

"I am so glad to see that more people are opening their minds to the possibilities of geothermal [heating and air conditioning systems]. The federal rebates and incentives make it a no-brainer, and the return on investment is incredible."

Technical Knowledge
The Worcester Business Journal’s Digital Diva tackled computer literacy in her last column, calling on all computer users to beef up their skills. That message resonated with one reader, who posted this comment:

"I am a big advocate of increasing the knowledge level for the casual computer user. Our biggest at-risk population of computer users right now is baby boomers. I say they are the biggest, because they have the most to lose right now…Learning basic computer safety is not that hard to do. They just need to find the right resources and invest a few hours to learn the basics."
