Vaillancourt Folk Art in Sutton has named Luke Vaillancourt its new president, the chalkware and decorative ornament maker announced on Wednesday.
Luke is the son of founders Gary and Judi Vaillancourt, who opened the company in 1984.
Vaillaincourt joined the family business in 2007 to help his parents grow their e-commerce platform and develop in-house corporate marketing. He was named vice president of operations in 2016.
Vaillancourt will take over Gary’s role, with Gary moving into an advisory position.
“Luke has been instrumental in bringing Vaillancourt into the digital world and by making our retail gallery in Sutton a very strong destination and a vibrant part of the Sutton community,” Gary said in a statement. “When COVID hit, Luke was able to pivot the company quickly to take advantage of various opportunities to ensure, not only its short-term survival, but potential for long-term growth.”
The company’s retail gallery, artist studio and Christmas museum is located inside the Manchaug Mills.
Luke Vaillancourt also founded the digital news website Mass Foodies, which merged with the Worcester Food & Wine Festival last year to become the events organization Mass Food & Wine.
