Up-and-comers don't know enough

Retirees are leaving the accounting and finance industry in droves and they're leaving their positions to folks who don't know enough about corporate compliance rules, according to results of a recent survey by the Robert Half International Global Finance Monitor.

According to the survey, 56 percent of finance and human resource managers said they have trouble finding skilled job candidates for executive accounting and finance positions.

According to Half, 43 percent of respondents worried about losing qualified candidates to other job opportunities.

Currently, companies around the world are spending an average of five weeks to fill staff level accounting and finance positions and eight weeks for management positions, Half said.

When asked to identify the most sought-after attribute for executives, respondents in nearly every country said experience in compliance was needed most.
