Marlborough-based medical device manufacturer Boston Scientific has announced a long-term member of its C-suite will be stepping down as Dan Brennan, the firm’s executive vice president and chief financial officer, has announced his upcoming retirement.

After having served as CFO of Boston Scientific since 2014, Brennan will retire from his executive leadership roles at the end of June. While he will no longer serve in a leadership capacity, Brennan will stay on with the company as a senior advisor through early October, according to a Wednesday press release from Boston Scientific.

Throughout his 31-year tenure with the company, Brennan has played a fundamental role in fostering talent within Boston Scientific’s financial organization while managing strategic internal and external investment opportunities, said Michael Mahoney, Boston Scientific chairman and CEO, said in the release.

"I thank Dan for his incredible leadership and tremendous contributions to Boston Scientific," Mahoney said. "Dan is an exceptional leader, financial steward and teammate. He has been a critical leader on our global team as we have transformed the trajectory of BSX financial performance over many years. In addition to helping lead our highly differentiated financial performance, Dan has been central to building our strong values and culture. Throughout his career, he has been instrumental in developing talent within the financial organization.”

Brennan will be succeeded by Jon Monson, the manufacturer’s current senior vice president, investor relations, effective June 30. As a member of Boston Scientific’s executive committee, Monson will oversee company functions including global controllership, global internal audit, corporate finance, and treasury.

Monson has previously served in a number of capacities at Boston Scientific including as global controller, chief accounting officer, and vice president and controller of the firm’s urology business.

Monson graduated with his bachelor’s degree in economics and accounting from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester and is a certified public accountant.

"Jon is a proven leader who is known for his strategic mindset, diligent and thoughtful leadership and focus on high performance and continuous innovation," Mahoney said in the release. "Having been with Boston Scientific for more than 25 years, he brings broad financial experience and expertise across many areas of the company which will serve him well in his new role."
