UMass Memorial Health is set to slightly expand its footprint in Worcester’s Bell Hill neighborhood, after purchasing two properties on Converse Street for $500,000.
The parcels, located at 5 and 17 Converse St. and adjacent to Interstate 290, were sold in a deal finalized on Monday by Michael and Elizabeth Giguere of Northborough, according to Worcester District Registry of Deeds records.
The property at 5 Converse Street is a 6,650-square-foot parking lot, according to City of Worcester property records, while 17 Converse St. is a 4,947-square-foot lot building containing a vacant three-story building most recently used as medical offices.
The properties will be utilized for parking, Kristy Lee, UMass Memorial’s media and public relations manager, told WBJ via email. This is at least the second real estate purchase the healthcare provider has made this summer; UMass Memorial purchased a research-and-development facility in Holden for $4.25 million in June.
Combined, the two parcels on Converse Street were given a tax assessment value of $447,100 in 2024, according to City property records.
