Timothy M. Jarry

Age: 29
Title: Investment Officer
Company: College of the Holy Cross
Company location: Worcester
Residence: Shrewsbury

Career highlights:
I work in the investment office at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester. We are responsible for the management of the college’s $640 million endowment, as well as the pension and working capital accounts. My career has followed a circular path, beginning with my graduation from Holy Cross.

After graduation, I enrolled at Northeastern University where I earned an MBA and a master’s in accounting, while working at the local accounting firm of Greenberg, Rosenblatt, Kull & Bitsoli. Upon completion of my graduate studies and licensure as a CPA, I closed the loop by returning to Holy Cross as an employee.

Community involvement:
I serve as the treasurer of the Worcester Historical Museum, a corporator at Bay State Savings Bank, and an active member of St. Mary’s Parish in Shrewsbury. Volunteering provides the opportunity to participate in the economic development of our community through projects like the Worcester Visitor Center, which will house the Worcester Historical Museum and the Central Massachusetts Convention and Visitors Bureau. I feel fortunate the have grown up in the Worcester area and compelled to preserve and enhance that experience for others.

Biggest success:
My biggest success professionally is returning to work at Holy Cross. I have the unique experience of not only doing a job that I love at a place that I love, but also being able to see the direct results of our efforts. From the students who arrive on campus for freshman orientation to the students who process onto Fitton Field each May for commencement, the success of the college’s investments transcends our performance record.

Dream job:
Like many people who grew up in the New England area, I would love the opportunity to be the general manager of the Boston Red Sox.

Businessperson he most admires and why:
I have always admired Warren Buffet for both his investment acumen, as well as his humility. A self-made man, Buffet has amassed one of the largest fortunes in the world through his unparalleled investment record. More impressively, he has maintained an unpretentious lifestyle in spite of his wealth, choosing to donate his entire fortune to charity.
