Worcester Polytechnic Institute has promoted Kristin Tichenor, Stephen Flavin and Eric Overström to senior management positions.
Tichenor was promoted from vice president for enrollment management to senior vice president for enrollment and institutional strategy. The step up means she is now responsible for overseeing the division of marketing and communications and helping set the university's strategic course.
Flavin, who has been dean of corporate and professional education since 2007, adds vice president for academic and corporate development to his title, while also remaining associate provost. In the new role, he is responsible for WPI's relationships with corporate partners, and he will oversee the university's entrepreneurial academic programs.
Overström, a biology professor who has headed the department of biology and biotechnology, will become provost ad interim effective July 1.
The promotion follows John Orr's decision to step down as provost and senior vice president of WPI. Orr will return to his position as professor of electrical and computer engineering.
