The Benefits Of Working From Home

The number of people who worked at home increased by nearly 2 million between 1999 and 2005, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Nearly half of those home-based workers had college degrees and nearly half earned $75,000 per year or more.

By 2005, home-based workers made up 8 percent of the country’s workforce. Most of the home-based workers in 2005 worked from home exclusively. The most common industries for home-based work were professional services, business and repair services, finance, insurance and real estate.

About 46 percent of people who worked at home said they made $75,000 or more in 2005. More than 10 percent of those who said they made that kind of money said they worked 11 or more hours a day.
