David Nordman, executive editor at the Telegram & Gazette, will step down at the end of May, the Worcester-based newspaper announced Tuesday.
Nordman is leaving for a position at Northeastern University in Boston. He has a background in teaching as an adjunct professor at the Worcester colleges Assumption University, where he received his degree, and Clark University, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Along with the T&G, Nordman oversees the paper’s sister outlets in Framingham, Milford, and Gardner, a responsibility he took on in 2020. He has been executive editor of the T&G since 2018, and began his career at the paper in 1995.
The search for Nordman’s replacement has already begun, per the T&G’s announcement.
The Telegram & Gazette is owned by Virginia-based Gannett, the nation’s largest newspaper publisher, which will oversee recruitment and hiring for the executive editor position. Gannett, formerly known as GateHouse, is also the longtime owner of MetroWest Daily News, Milford Daily News, The Holden Landmark, The Gardner News, The Grafton News, The Millbury-Sutton Chronicle, and Leominster Champion.
