Leadership MetroWest has received a $5,000 grant towards the cost of its 2009-2010 MetroWest Leadership Academy, according to Helen Lemoine, Leadership Metrowest’s executive director.
It received the grant from the TD Charitable Foundation, the charitable arm of TD Banknorth.
The academy brings 30 community members together from corporations, nonprofits and municipalities in 10 day-long session over the course of a year. Those who attend learn about the region’s institutions, resources and challenges. They also meet decision-makers and get a chance to share perspectives with each other.
“It was certainly a wonderful opportunity for us to be able to know that we could field this year’s class during a difficult economy,” said Helene Lemoine, executive director of Leadership MetroWest of Framingham.
“It wasn’t a matter where we wouldn’t be able to go on without the grant, but it made it easier for us as an organization to know that we could put on the highest quality program.”
This is the first time the academy has had a single, presenting sponsor that provided such a large amount, she said.
The academy charges $1,650 for corporate attendees and $1,250 for nonprofit and municipal attendees.
