State OKs Tax Agreement For Franklin Site

The commonwealth has approved a property tax exemption for a technology company that wants to build a new facility in Franklin, according to a statement from the town's planning department.

The agreement between the town and Hopkinton-based Hamilton Storage Technologies had been approved in September by the Franklin Town Council. Last week, the state's Economic Assistance Coordinating Council checked off on the deal.

Hamilton recently purchased land at 3 Forge Parkway on which it plans to build a new corporate headquarters, as well as space for engineering, manufacturing and customer support operations. The town says Hamilton's workforce of about 55 now works out of the Hopkinton facility and another site in Milford. The new building in Franklin will allow the company to bring all operations under one roof and allow for expansion, the statement said.
