Staples creates new C-suite position

Framingham office supply chain Staples has created a new chief security officer position in a new digital solutions division of the company.

Brett Wahlin, the new chief information security officer, will help oversee Staples’ shift toward customers’ greater use of technology and handle security threats against the company and its customers, Staples announced this week. The role will include cyber security, product development, connected devices, fraud and loss prevention, Staples said.

Wahlin will report to Faisal Masud, the chief technology officer, who heads the new Staples Digital Solutions office.

Wahlin was also a chief information security officer at Hewlett-Packard, and held similar roles at Sony Network Entertainment International, the software security firm McAfee, Wells Fargo and Intel.
