Spectrum Health Systems has purchased a new property in Worcester, months after the mental health and substance use treatment provider outlined plans to move its headquarters from Worcester to Westborough.
Spectrum purchased a former American Legion post at 1023 Main St. in Worcester’s Main South neighborhood for $910,000 in a transaction recorded by the Worcester District Registry of Deeds on Aug. 30.
The location was added to Spectrum’s mobile unit service route at the start of September, Spectrum confirmed in a statement. Long-term plans for the facility are still under development. The property consists of a 7,296 square-foot building on roughly 0.5 acres.
Spectrum began the mobile treatment initiative in February to provide more access points to opioid disorder treatment options across Worcester.
The seller is Samtag Properties of Worcester, who last purchased the property from the American Legion Main South Post #241 of Worcester in 2016 for $290,000.
.
The new Westborough headquarters, which will share a property with a new substance use treatment intake center, will open in 2024 as part of an organizational growth plan.
Spectrum’s headquarters currently remain on Mechanic St. in Worcester, according to the provider’s website.
