Worcester nonprofit Spectrum Health Systems, which specializes in mental health and substance use treatment, is set to open two new facilities in Westborough in 2024, including a new headquarters.

In addition to the new headquarters, the other facility will be an intake center for substance abuse treatment. Construction is underway for both buildings, according to a Thursday press release from Boylston-based RP Masiello, the construction manager for the project.

The new corporate headquarters for Spectrum will foster the organization's growth, according to the Masiello release, with additional space for operational expansion. It will be three-stories of executive and administrative office space, IT operations, and a training center.

Spectrum lists its current headquarters as 12 Mechanic St. in Worcester, according to its website. The nonprofit has 21 locations throughout Massachusetts, as far east as Lynn and west to Great Barrington.

“Worcester has been a wonderful location for our headquarters, and our new Westborough facilities will be best equipped to serve as the nucleus for our growing healthcare system,” said Kurt Isaacson, president and CEO of Spectrum Health Systems in a statement. “We’re committed to increasing access to recovery continuum of care services, and these new facilities in Westborough will aid in that mission. We’re looking forward to welcoming current and new clients and staff alike to our updated campus.”

In addition to the new headquarters and intake center, the nonprofit has an inpatient and residential facility in Westborough.

The new Westborough intake center will be a two-story building, with a 24/7 urgent care clinic offering evaluations and admissions for those seeking substance abuse treatment, according to the press release. The second floor will host a day program and counseling office space.

Spectrum is the third largest provider of addiction services in Central Massachusetts, after Framingham-based and Worcester-based Community Healthlink. Spectrum has 569 employees based in Central Massachusetts and 1,121 employees total, serving 15,000 clients, according to information the nonprofit provided to the WBJ Research Department.
