Career highlights:
Growing up in Chicago, my family had started a direct marketing and fulfillment business 22 years ago. As a young girl I went to work with my father on the weekends and in the summer, and loved what he did. After college and gaining some work experience, I had the opportunity to work closely with my father and got involved in his business, learning a wealth of knowledge. My dream had always been to start my own marketing and creative firm, and I was able to do that last year.
Community involvement:
I have worked as marketing director for the New England Dream Center (NEDC) for the past two years on a complete volunteer basis. I also enjoy volunteering at their programs and events as I strongly believe in the vision and work of the NEDC. Being a part of an organization that is committed to assisting individuals in making positive life changes and providing support and guidance on many levels, is an honor.
Biggest success:
Above all of my accomplishments thus far, I would qualify that having had the opportunity to start my own marketing and creative firm in a fairly new town to me, Worcester, and experience its growth is my greatest success. Opportunity presented itself, allowing me to begin my firm, and now I have clients extending across the United States and over a variety of industries.
Dream job:
I am fortunate enough to be living and working my dream job now! In addition to being able to start Nu Marketing, my other professional endeavors include my own clothing line, specialty furniture, and exclusive custom jewelry — stay tuned!
Businessperson she most admires and why:
My father—Varghese Chacko. He has been a great role model to me professionally. He came to this country 40 years ago in pursuit of the American dream and has surpassed accomplishing that. His life experience of going to school full time, working full time, and supporting a family of five, exemplifies that anything can be accomplished with passion, tenacity, and hard work. I look at my father’s life and admire the way he has been able to grow his business from his garage to a multi-million dollar entity, all the while upholding his values in God and his priority of his family.
