A New Hampshire storage company is proposing the redevelopment of a vacant portion of a retail plaza at 380-510 John Fitch Highway in Fitchburg.
The plans by True Storage, Inc. of Manchester, New Hampshire, focus on the former furniture store location previously home to the companies Comfort Home Scratch & Dent, Karl's Kloseouts Furniture and Mattresses, and AJWright. True Storage’s plans seek to convert the space into 80,000 square feet of climate controlled self-storage units, office space, and circulation area, according to a letter submitted to the City of Fitchburg by Allen & Major Associates, Inc., a Waltham engineering consulting firm representing True Storage.
The plans include three storefronts for future retail tenants at the front of the facility.
The plaza was purchased in September by affiliates of Brady Sullivan Properties in Manchester for $7 million.
The proposal is before the Fitchburg Planning Board. Revised plans are listed among materials for the March 28 planning board meeting.
True Storage develops storage properties either from the ground up or through conversions and turns over operation to national storage companies, according to its website. Locally, True Storage owns a CubeSmart location on Green Street in Clinton.
