Schott To Add 71 Jobs In Southbridge
Schott North America, the fiber optic and medical device manufacturer, will relocate the company's electronic packaging division from Indiana to Southbridge, where it will construct an expansion of its existing facility and add 71 new jobs.
The company received a $1.5 million loan from Boston-based MassDevelopment for the expansion project in the Southbridge Business Center, which is owned by Southbridge Associates II LLC.
The expansion and renovation will be at 15 Wells St., where the company will occupy 42,000 square feet of space to accommodate the move of Schott Elecpac.
The business complex is the former site of American Optical and has been developed into a mixed-use hotel, commercial, conference and office center on 67 acres in 11 buildings making up 900,000 square feet of space.
MassDevelopment has helped finance 277 projects this year, worth an estimated $3.7 billion in investments.
