RXi CFO Leaves Company

RXi Pharmaceuticals Corp. CFO Stephen DiPalma has resigned from his position.

In a brief statement, the Worcester-based company said DiPalma was leaving the company “to pursue other opportunities.”

His last day with RXi is Aug. 28 and the company is recruiting a new CFO. DiPalma was CFO when RXi went public last year.

RXi was co-founded by UMass Medical School professor and Nobel Prize winner Craig Mello. It is developing drugs based on RNA interference, which seeks to treat diseases by interfering with the genes thought to be responsible for those diseases.

In the second quarter, RXi lost $9.3 million compared to a loss of $7 million in the same period a year earlier.
