Greenwood Industries, Inc., a Worcester-based roofing firm, bought a facility on Crescent Street in Worcester for $950,000, according to the Worcester South District Registry of Deeds.
The facility was sold by Steven Fields, the former president of roofing contractor Heritage Wholesalers. Heritage Wholesalers was acquired by Texas-based building supply company SRS Distribution. SRS Distribution had been leasing the property from Fields and is moving to a new location.
Heritage Wholesalers has been in existence since 1970, according to its website. It has 10 other locations in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
The buyers of the property were the three executives of Greenwood Industries, which is headquartered on Lincoln Street in Worcester and has nine other locations throughout New England. On Thursday, Greenwood announced it has acquired Hudson Valley Roofing in New York.
The property at 55 Crescent St. is nearly half an acre and includes a 14,100-square-foot facility. The entity registered to Fields has owned the facility since 1998, according to Worcester city assessors’ data.
CORRECTION: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated that Heritage Wholesalers sold the property to Greenwood Industries. Seller Steven Fields is no longer the president of Heritage Wholesalers so his sale of the property was unrelated to Heritage Wholesalers; the company was not involved in the sale. Additionally, the previous story inaccurately referred to the two roofing firms as competitors, when Heritage is a distributor and Greenwood is a contractor, so they are not competitors.
