Ron Ernenwein, president of AA Transportation, provides tips on transport options for holiday events

At the holidays, offices tend to celebrate with parties and gatherings for employees and clients alike.  The season is full of reasons to have these events, whether it’s for an office Christmas party or a New Year’s celebration.  However, the danger of those joyous times lies in the consumption of alcohol that occurs at these parties.  In 2004, 47.4 percent of automotive accidents were related to drunk driving, says the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration.  Another way to look at it is between 6 p.m. on December 23 and 7 a.m. on the 27th, 147 of the 310 accidents recorded in that time were alcohol-related.

While not every accident is the cause of a businessman or woman having too much to drink, it is a constant risk in any environment where alcohol is being served.  An option that many companies can consider in their holiday expense budgeting is for an executive transportation service.  Not only does this help to eliminate the risk factor of holiday gatherings, but it also gives your employees and clients alike opportunities beyond a safe ride home.

The advantages to such a service provide reassurance to business owners, as employees can oftentimes represent a liability to the company.  An executive transport service can offer more protection in the way of liability insurance than a small business can, helping to cross some worry off of the minds of businesses hosting holiday events.  Consider the networking opportunities that abound when relaxing in coach transportation without the added stress of carpooling or fumbling with directions.

When choosing an executive transport service, consider your options.  Companies such as AA offer transport choices from a school bus to a stretch Hummer limousine, both of which have ample seating capacity for your team and its clients.  Make sure the company’s driver certification program is extensive, with full background checks and randomized drug tests.  Plus, investigate whether or not the vehicle fleet has been properly maintained, and if they have been registered as a bus or as livery.  Vehicles carrying bus tags are required by law to undergo far more thorough inspections than those classified as livery.

Most of all, remember that by choosing a fully-fledged executive transportation service, your employees and clients will remain safe this year, and enjoy the festive nature of the holiday season.
