Small businesses seek $6.2M in tax relief

The Hartford Small Business Alliance has asked for $6.2 million in direct tax relief for the businesses affected by the city of Hartford’s upcoming massive tax hike. About $4.1 million would come from the city budget, and $2.1 million raised from Hartford businesses. The group rejects Hartford Mayor Eddie Perez’s proposed phase-in of the taxes, instead presenting a year-long tax relief “band-aid” while the group organizes a more comprehensive study on the city’s tax structure.
