Roche Diagnostics will stop manufacturing in Marlborough by the fourth quarter and move production to other facilities in Europe and the U.S., the company confirmed Wednesday.
The cuts are a result of a consolidation of the company’s research and development operations. Roche has made several investments and acquisitions in the Boston area over the past several years, and will announce a consolidated location in the near future, said Todd A. Siesky, vice president of communications at Roche Molecular Diagnostics.Â
About 75 jobs will be eliminated in Marlborough, according to the Boston Globe.
“This decision will allow world-class researchers across multiple disciplines to work side-by-side in one of the world’s top biotechnology hubs,” said Siesky.Â
