The EcoTarium received a $600,000 grant to help it complete a phase of its strategic plan.
With the help of the grant from the Yawkey Foundations, the Worcester museum will be able to complete its Wild Cat Station, which will include a mountain lion exhibit, bird mews, a multi-purpose educational plaza, and a wildlife care building. The lions exhibit is the last part of phase two of a planning campaign to reimagine the EcoTarium as it approaches its 200th anniversary in 2025.
The museum has already renovated its Explorer Express train exhibit, and opened City Science, its largest indoor exhibit, as part of the campaign.
About $500,000 will go towards Wild Cat Station, and the remaining $100,000 will be used to support ongoing operations.
