Worcester Regional Food Hub will be offering dining options from a rotating group of the organization’s food entrepreneurs on the ground floor at 446 Main St., Worcester's Glass Tower skyscraper.
According to a Food Hub post on Instagram post, there will be a soft opening in early October in the former bank branch, once occupied by Boston-headquartered Santander Bank.
The Glass Tower, formerly called Worcester Plaza, is owned and operated by Synergy Investments of Boston.
“We have worked out a great partnership with the food hub to help support their nonprofit mission that will give these entrepreneurs an excellent location to share their talents with the community,” said Synergy’s Ryan Chamberlain in an email to WBJ.
Once the space has fully opened, it will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Friday and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays, according to the Food Hub’s website.
“We believe the former bank space with its open format and prominent positioning on Main St. is the ideal location that will provide great food for our tenants as well as be a new breakfast and lunch option for downtown businesses,” said Chamberlain.
The Worcester Regional Food Hub announced in January it would be renovating a new space in Union Station, allowing for an increase of 6,000 square feet and expanding from one kitchen to six. The location, including a retail store, is expected to open in 2023.
The Food Hub’s mission is to increase local food access and consumption and recruit, retain, and incubate local food entrepreneurs, collectively building healthy, sustainable, and just communities, according to its website.
Has there been any interest in reopening the top floor restaurant at the glass tower? What a destination that would be.
