Reliant Medical Group in Worcester is participating in a national health study as one of roughly 50 healthcare providers taking part across the country.
The program, called All of Us, is seeking at least 1 million volunteers from across the United States to enroll and share information about their health, habits and environment in order to accelerate health research and more quickly identify medical advancements. The program aims to advance prevention, treatment and care programs tailored for individuals of all backgrounds.
Reliant is one of a group of Massachusetts health providers taking part, including Partners HealthCare hospitals, Boston Medical Center and Newton-Wellesley Hospital. Reliant is the only participant in Central Massachusetts.
Reliant is enrolling volunteers and gathering participant data for use in research at two clinic locations: at 5 Neponset St. in Worcester and 385 Southbridge St. at the Auburn Mall in Auburn. Volunteers have to be 18 or older but do not have to be Reliant patients to take part in the program.
The National Institutes of Health is running the research program with more than 100 organizations across the country, including the Broad Institute, a Cambridge biomedical research center, and a range of national health groups.
Participants are asked to share their medical records, which the NIH ensures is stored securely and confidentially. They will also fill out surveys about their health, family and other details, and may be asked to have a 30-minute visit to a Reliant office to have their physical measurements taken and provide blood and urine samples.
CORRECTION: Reliant has relocated a research location from Southborough, as a previous version of this story reported, to Auburn.
