Photo/Courtesy Employees of St. Mary's Credit Union recently donated 40 backpacks and $600 worth of gift cards to the Marlborough Community Services Inc.'s “Back to School Backpack Program.” St. Mary's also donated pens, paper, rulers and other school supplies to the program which provides all the necessities for local children who are returning to the classroom. The nonprofit organization serves approximately 700 local residents. Photo/Courtesy The Bank of Canton recently donated $2,500 to the Rainbow Child Development Center in support of the second phase of the center's renovation project at its Worcester location. The nonprofit agency provides educational, childcare, and family services in Central Massachusetts. Rainbow is licensed to care for more than 290 children between six weeks and 13 years of age. Photo/Courtesy Commerce Bank recently partnered with the Community Harvest Project to pick vegetables for the United Way's Day of Caring. The annual event, which takes place at Brigham Hill Community Farm in North Grafton, helps thousands of people in need, while volunteers get to learn more about agriculture and the problem of world hunger. All of the harvested food was donated to hunger relief organizations throughout Central Massachusetts. Photo/Courtesy Irving Oil, a leading energy provider in the Northeast, recently awarded a $2,000 grant to Sherry's House as part of its New England Neighbor Initiative. Customers nominated charities across the region to receive grants from the company. Sherry's House is a nonprofit organization that provides no-cost housing for families with children receiving cancer treatment in Massachusetts Hospitals. Irving Oil awarded a total of $25,000 in grants to local charities as part of the initiative.
