CHILI AND CHARITY

Webster Dudley Business Alliance and Isador's Organic Fruit & Deli of Oxford raised $700 from a chili cookoff for the Hand Fruit Program, which distributes organic fruit to schools. Framingham-based office supply giant Staples donated $3,500 to Worcester’s Nativity School, through an employee-directed donation program.

Fidelity Bank in Leominster donated more than $250,000 to various local causes in 2013, including the SHINE Initiative, Community HealthLink and the Millbury Bicentennial Committee.

Energy supplier Unitil, which serves North Central Massachusetts, donated $6,000 to the United Way Volunteer Center in Fitchburg.
