Northeast New Home Sales Fall
New single-family home sales in the Northeast plummeted 36.7 percent between August 2010 and August 2011, while the U.S. figure rose 6.1 percent, according to the U.S. Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Altogether, 295,000 homes were sold in the U.S. in August 2011, and 19,000 in the Northeast, on a seasonally adjusted basis. Month over month, sales dropped 13.6 percent in the Northeast and 2.3 percent nationwide.
