The cost of electricity in Massachusetts is lower than it’s been since 2006, thanks to the falling price of natural gas, according to the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities.
The average price of electricity for a residential customer is now about $112 a month, down about 25 percent since prices peaked in 2008 and 2009.
The DPU has approved residential electric rate cuts of 19 percent for National Grid and 16 percent for NSTAR in recent months.
