A new commuter rail stop will open Monday on the Framingham/Worcester line, in Brighton at a growing development called Boston Landing.

As a result, many morning trains heading into Boston will be leaving at slightly different times starting Monday.

The stop is the 17th on the commuter rail line, which stretches from Worcester's Union Station to Boston's South Station. State officials held a ceremonial grand opening for the Boston Landing stop on Wednesday.

Timing of trains will be altered slightly to accommodate the new stop, which is visible just off the Massachusetts Turnpike next to Guest Street. The nonstop HeartToHub inbound train to Boston will leave each weekday at 8 a.m., five minutes earlier than usual. The outbound train leaves at 7:35 each weekday night and will not be affected.

Starting Monday, weekday trains will leave Worcester, the busiest stop along the line, at the following times, with departures in many cases five minutes earlier:

  •  12:20 a.m., 4:45 a.m., 5:15 a.m., 5:50 a.m., 6:25 a.m., 7 a.m., 7:25 a.m., 8 a.m., 8:50 a.m., 10:35 a.m., 12:05 p.m., 1:55 p.m., 3:50 p.m., 5:20 p.m., 6:05 p.m., 7:20 p.m., 8:30 p.m., 9 p.m., 9:35 p.m., 11:20 p.m.

New Balance, the sneaker company with its headquarters at Boston Landing, funded the $20-million new rail stop and will pay for maintenance costs there for 10 years, according to the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority.

Besides New Balance's headquarters, Boston Landing is envisioned for more than 2 million square feet, including office, laboratory, retail and open space, and a 175-room hotel. The Boston Bruins have a practice facility there, and a second facility is being built right next to it for the Boston Celtics.

Six morning peak-hour inbound trains and six afternoon peak-hour outbound trains will stop at Boston Landing Station Monday through Friday, and trains running on Saturday and Sunday will make station stops.

The Boston Landing stop is the first commuter rail station for Boston's Allston and Brighton neighborhoods since the 1960s, MBTA said.
