The new owner of Worcester's Sky Mark Tower, a Worcester Polytechnic Institute graduate, has bought a trio of properties just around the corner.
Los Angeles-based Benedict Canyon Equities, founded by graduate and trustee Bob Hart, has paid $1 million for the long-vacant 27 Chandler St., the vacant former Corner Store building at 35 Chandler St., and 47 Irving St., a vacant lot behind the vacant convenience store.
The sale of the three sites closed Jan. 8.
Hart bought the 24-story, 206-unit Sky Mark Tower last October for just under $29 million. The building at 600 Main St. was owned by Framingham property management company VTT Management, the same firm owning the nearby properties Hart has subsequently bought.
Now, Hart has two far less visible buildings near the tower, along with an empty lot. The old four-story warehouse at 27 Chandler St. was built in 1890 and includes 28,000 square feet. The Corner Store building next door was built in 1925 and includes 2,500 square feet.
The three sites combined were last assessed by the City of Worcester at $630,000. VTT Management bought the sites in 2012 for $505,000. The sales were first reported by the016.com.
