Nativity School of Worcester names new president

The board of trustees at the Nativity School of Worcester, an independent Jesuit middle school, announced the appointment of Thomas McKenney as the new president effective June 4.

McKenney, who holds a master’s degree in education degree Harvard University, has previously worked as a volunteer middle and high school teacher at a Catholic school in India. Additionally, he co-founded the Rural Education Resource Development Initiative to provide underserved children in India scholarships to attend Catholic schools.

The Nativity School of Worcester aims to educate underserved boys in the region and is funded independently through individuals, corporations, and foundations. McKenney, in his role as executive director, exceeded previous fundraising records for the Holy Cross Family Ministries Foundation in North Easton.

A national search was conducted to find candidates for the post. Elizabeth Deliberto, who served as the acting president during the interim, will resume her duties as vice president.
