Music Worcester has landed its largest ever single contribution to the organization and will establish a new endowment fund at the Greater Worcester Community Foundation to support an annual concert.
The joint $1.2-million gift from the Stoddard Charitable Trust and Fletcher Foundation, both in Worcester, will essentially be used to support the new endowment fund and the Stoddard/Fletcher Concert in future Music Worcester seasons.
“This combined gift amazes me in so many ways,” Music Worcester Executive Director Adrien Finlay said in a statement, “as it acknowledges and honors the involvement of multiple generations of Stoddard and Fletcher family members with Music Worcester, and also provides significant resources for Worcester to continue being a key cultural destination for musicians from across the globe.”
The organization just completed its 160th season, which featured multiple performances from acclaimed cellist Yo-Yo Ma and pianist Simone Dinnerstein.
In a statement, Justic Fletcher, a trustee of both funds, said music has always been important to his family.
“We have always appreciated the work that Music Worcester does, to that end, in Worcester, and we are honored to make this gift so that future audiences continue to be inspired by world-renowned artists right here in this community that we have all called home,” Fletcher said.
Totally awesome! Music Worcester rocks!
